The requirements listed below are representative of the educational attainment, knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required: PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. • Participate in planning and team efforts of Tribal personnel or contractors to remediate or determine and/or identify sources of pollution, flooding, hazardous substances, contaminants, or other environmental damage to Tribal property, for example, identifying spills or leakage of contaminants, supervising clean-up of illegal dumping, identifying asbestos products in structures or lands, or brownfields clean-up activities. Description Environmental Technician SUMMARY: The Environmental Technician, working under the supervision of an Environmental Manager, will monitor the environment on all Tribal lands and collect samples of gases, soils, water, and air to test pollution levels or identify sources of pollution or contamination. Maintained a comfortable working knowledge of GPS units and field electronic data collection. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated abilities/traits in the following areas are preferred: • Participation in a grant-development team • Ability to use all equipment for gathering samples, such as air samplers or collectors, water samplers, and similar tools for testing and data gathering • Knowledge of GIS software • Experience working with and planning youth activities • Ability to utilize social media for community, tribal and youth outreach • Ability to prepare scientific or technical reports or presentations • Ability to calibrate scientific or technical equipment used in sampling • Ability to inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning • Good physical health for active field work • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the minimum insurance requirements regarding driving record to utilize tribal vehicle.
